Benefits

AIR LEAKAGE, also called infiltration, is the unintentional seepage of outside air into a building, typically through cracks in the building envelope. In the summer, infiltration can bring humid outdoor air into the building, severely diminishing the efficiency of your HVAC. In the winter, this can result in warm, moist indoor air moving through cold envelope cavities.  Condensation then occurs within in the structure, resulting in mold or rot.

Leaky Houses Are:
Unhealthy
UNHEALTHY

Most people spend upwards of 90% of their time indoors. A leaky house allows in particulates, dust mites, pollen, and mold spores leading to poorer indoor air quality.

Expensive
EXPENSIVE

Leaky buildings are more expensive to condition. Tightening the envelope reduces mechanical loads, improves energy efficiency, and maybe most importantly, improves the comfort of the home.

Vulnerable
VULNERABLE

As moist air leaks into your building, it hits a dew point and condenses inside the wall. This can cause all sorts of unseen problems from mold growth to wall failure.

Climate Damaging
CLIMATE DAMAGING

40% of all CO2 emissions are from buildings. Most building energy is spent on the HVAC systems, and anything that can be done to minimize the leaks results in less energy being consumed.

An air barrier is a system for controlling the airflow between conditioned and unconditioned spaces. This air barrier system is the primary enclosure boundary that separates indoor from outdoor air. In a multi-unit building, the air barrier system also mitigates the smell and noise sharing between adjacent units.

AeroBarrier makes your building:
Comfortable
COMFORTABLE

Achieve a more consistent temperature throughout the building.

Healthy
HEALTHY

Less particulates, dust, pollen and outdoor pollution entering the home improves indoor air quality.

Affordable
AFFORDABLE

Reduced envelope leakage means reduced mechanical loads, which improves energy efficiency and lowers your HVAC costs.

Durable
DURABLE

Blocking moisture means your home’s structural integrity remains intact.

Why Builders Love AeroBarrier:
Timing
TIMING

Apply AeroBarrier during rough-in or post-drywall

Application
APPLICATION

AeroBarrier takes 2-3 hours for Residential and 1-2 hours per unit for multi-family applications

Dry Time
DRY TIME

Sealant dries within 30 minutes after application and work can resume immediately after it dries

Reduced Labor Cost
REDUCES LABOR COSTS

No more caulk, tape and expanding gaskets are needed to seal a building. Smoke machines with blower doors and hours of hunting are eliminated. AeroBarrier installation is computer controlled and removes any sealing guesswork.
